Why I Like Romney

I like pretty much all the Republican candidates, and could support any of them over Obama, Clinton or Edwards.  But I'm supporting Mitt Romney, and am hoping he can get the nomination.  Here is why:

  • He is a real conservative.  He has changed his mind on some issues, but I'm convinced the changes are real.  The fact is, compared to MCain and Huckabee's current positions, Romney is the most conservative, hands-down.  And that's a good thing.
  • He has real-world business experience.  The economy is a major issue, and Mitt Romney has shown he is intimately familiar with how successful businesses are run.  Since business is the economic engine our country runs on, it is critical to have a leader who really understands the economy.  He does.
  • He has a documented record of leadership success.  With his business, with the Olympics (where he turned a near-disaster into a magnificent success, by all accounts) and as Governor, Romney has shown himself to be a doer and a problem solver.  For example, others talk about the problems with the health care system.  Governor Mitt Romney instituted a system to provide care to everyone, without raising taxes (and for those who shout "HE RAISED FEES!", no fee increases were related to health care).
  • His campaign is a model of discipline and execution.  Perhaps the best indicator of his acumen is found by looking at his campaign.  Even his opponents have commented on how disciplined and focused his campaign has been.

For these reasons and more, Mitt is my man for President.
